!4th February was the Memorial Day of the late Director and Founder of Crescent International School, Kano, who passed on to the great beyond on the 14th of February, 2000.
To lead a school is to hold the future in your hands. Mr. Ehtisham Nabi Syed understood this better than anyone. He didn’t just manage budgets or curriculum; He nurtured spirits.
Under his leadership, Crescent International School grew not just in size, but in character. Today C.I.S.K reflects on his Leadership and Guidance to both staff, students, and the entire secondary school community in Kano state.

We are proud to introduce our newly appointed Junior Secondary School (JSS) Prefects, a group of outstanding students chosen for their integrity, dedication, and positive influence among their peers.

These young leaders have demonstrated exceptional character, academic excellence, and a genuine commitment to upholding the values that define CIS Kano (respect, teamwork, discipline, and excellence). Their role is to serve as role models, guiding and supporting their classmates while fostering a strong sense of community across the school.

The English food expository essay/cooking class for final year students of the 2025-2026 academic session took place on Thursday 25th October 2025, students explained topics related to food, such as the cultural significance of dishes, the health benefits of specific food groups, and a step-by-step guide on how to prepare the meals.students chose clear topics, provided necessary context, stated their thesis or main point, and used logical organization to explain their ideas thoroughly. Selected parents were invited to sample some of the meals prepared by the students.

In our continuous effort to promote Qur’anic learning and spiritual growth, Crescent International School Islamiyyah (Al-Hilãl) organized a Qur’an Musabaqa on Thursday, 23rd October 2025, at the school canteen. The event was designed to strengthen the students’ connection with the Noble Qur’an, encourage consistent recitation and memorization, and build their confidence in public presentation.

All students across the four Islamiyya levels participated actively, displaying admirable skill and dedication. The competition featured various categories of Qur’an recitation and memorization, and the atmosphere was filled with excitement, reflection, and a strong sense of unity.

Prizes and tokens were awarded to the 1st, 2nd, and 3rd place winners from each level in recognition of their outstanding performances. In addition, a special token of appreciation was given to some of the hardworking Islamiyya teachers and staff whose efforts made the program a success.

The musabaqa not only inspired students to improve their Qur’anic recitation but also strengthened the spirit of healthy competition, discipline, and love for the Book of Allah. It was indeed a memorable and spiritually uplifting day for the Crescent International School family.

Crescent International School Students’ visit to Media houses in Kano.
On Wednesday, 16th January, 2019 the students of Crescent international school embarked on an academic excursion to media houses in Kano. This is in line with the requirement in entrepreneurship to expose the students to how advertising contributes to the growth of businesses.

The students visited two radio houses, Cool fm and guarantee radio. At cool fm, they were received by the head of Wazobia fm, Mr. Chiboy at exactly 10:00am, while at guarantee radio, they were received by the program manager Mallam Bashir

Another history was made at Crescent International school Kano, on Tuesday, 27th of February 2018 when a renowned group in Nigeria; The National Association of Nigerian Students added another feather to the Laurels of our Director. The student’s body presented an Award of Excellence in prudent management of Capital and human resources to the Director, Crescent International school Kano Since he took over the management of the affairs of C.I.S. over a decade ago.

The Award ceremony also showcased his contributions as the Director of C.I.S. in the development of capital and man-power in particular and complete advancement of humanity in general.

The Award ceremony featured a brief recitation of the biography of our amiable Director Mr. Mohammed Wasiu Syed and the history of Crescent International School Kano as well as that of the founder of C.I.S. Mr. Etheinsam Syed.

The high-point of the event was the presentation of the “Award Plaque which was received on behalf of the Director by Mr. Solomon Caleb, one of the senior masters of the school.

The event came to a close with a Group Photograph with the NANS members, the Director, members of both academic and non-academic staff the school.
